SWOT
Rooted in Métis Voices.
This provincial project gathered the lived and living experiences of Métis women and 2SLGBTQIA+ community members across Saskatchewan to understand barriers, strengths, and urgent needs related to domestic and gender-based violence. Guided by Indigenous Research Methodologies, this project prioritizes cultural safety, community leadership, and Métis data sovereignty.

Where We Are Now
The Path Forward
LFDM is currently working on the next stage of this project: transforming community-identified needs into concrete action. Guided directly by the voices and recommendations shared across Saskatchewan, we are advancing solutions that honour Métis identity, self-determination, and lived experience.
Our work is currently centering around five foundational pillars:
Investment in Métis-led services and safe spaces
Trauma-informed, land-based and culture-based supports
Métis data governance and culturally safe programming
Inclusive services for 2SLGBTQIA+ and gender-diverse community members
Rural and northern accessibility solutions
These pillars reflect what Métis community members told us is urgently needed to ensure that every person, regardless of location, gender identity, or circumstance, has access to safety, dignity, and healing.
